This is such an unusual find from the region- to have both species of minerals together intergrown in an attractive display on one decent sized Epidote crystal.
The Epidote crystal itself is a deep olive green and the crystal faces from top to bottom are quite gemmy and reflective, showing the vertical growth striations well. The soft sea to apple green of the smaller contrasting Diopside crystals, show off nicely against its epidote host, intertwining and in some places growing through the larger crystal.
The Diopside crystals are up to approximately 40mm in length.
The Epidote seems to be unterminated and is also slightly bent, giving it some real character.
