Calcite on Quartz : Boldut Mine, Cavnic, Maramures Co., Romania

A truly gorgeous specimen and very unusual for the locality in that it is somewhat more exciting than the monochromatic colour palette of the more commonly seen Romanian specimens from the Cavnic area. The calcite adorns the quartz crystals in swathes of ribbon-like tube structures made of hundreds of stacked rhombic crystals of various tones of pastel cream through peach to coral and refreshing orange.
Something that will stand out amongst the other Romanian pieces on your shelves.
The quartz crystals are approximately 45mm in height.  On many of these Quartzes, you can clearly see single calcite crystals scattered across the faces.
There are traces of pyrite on the reverse.
A very attractive specimen that I've had in my collection for about 15 years.
